From the Another Vehicle We Won't Get files, the almost-ready production versions of the Microlino 2.0 city/bubble car were shown at the IAA auto show in Munich. The Turin-based automaker creates urban and city vehicular solutions with their city cars and scooters. The Microlino 2.0 is a niche automobile that could meet the needs of city dwellers who need inexpensive vehicles to shop, get around town, and other uses that don't require a large range. The top Microlino 2.0 will have a 140+ mile range that should get you around town or to most places you want to go. Vehicles like the Microloni 2.0 due to their affordability allow folks to own multiple vehicles for specific needs or get folks like students access to mobility...plus they're easy to park. The Microlino will enter production later in 2021 and come in three styles, Urban (right) Dolce, (below) and Competizione (top) with additional motor options devoted to range and performance issues and the optional folding sunroof. Prices will be revealed closer to production but Microlino has promised the 2.0 will be affordable. Click on "read more" below to view the release (with version 2.0 updates), an additional pic (from IAA), an intro video, and a technical data chart. Too bad we won't see this one in the US because I doubt the sales numbers would justify the costs to meet regulations. Smart sold quite a few cars here and those who remember BMW's Isettas might be customers. Too bad. So cute.

Microlino 2.0 Series Version & Editions
- The Microlino 2.0 will come in the three editions: Urban, Dolce and Competizione
- Three battery versions available with approximately 95, 175 and 230km range
- Production will start this year at our own production facility in Turin
- New configurator for the Microlino 2.0 will be launched in a few weeks from now
Due to the feedback gathered from reservation holders, we realized that we have different customer groups with different expectations. This is why we have decided to launch the Microlino in three distinct editions, Urban, Dolce and Competizione. The editions will differ only estethically, the technical specifications are the same for all.
URBAN
The Urban edition embodies the essence of the Microlino as a simplistic, yet beautiful vehicle. It follows the philosophy of less is more and is particularly targeted at customers that like an eco-friendly and practical vehicle for their everyday trips.
It comes in two colors Santorini White unicolor and Amsterdam Orange dual color with a glossy black roof. It features two simplistic interior styles in black and anthracite fabric and the entry model comes with the closed coupé roof that can be upgraded to the sunroof.
DOLCE
The Dolce edition was designed for customers who like a retro touch and more flashy colors. It should embody the “Dolce Vita” lifestyle in Italy from the 50ies and the 60ies and transport it to the present.
The edition comes in five distinct colors and features chrome details that add to the premium appearance of this edition. Next to the two colors from the Urban edition Santorini White and Amsterdam Orange, it features three exclusive, flashy colors with a white roof: Paris Mint, Milano Red and Zurich Blue.
The retro look is complemented by the front and rear Infinity LED light bars that give the overall retro look a modern twist. The Dolce Edition features two interior styles with premium materials in fabric and vegan leather for the seat, dashboard and steering wheel that match the retro exterior colors. The sunroof is standard and makes sure customers can enjoy a nice breeze and sunlight during the warmer times of the year. At no extra charge, customers can also opt for the Coupé roof.
COMPETIZIONE
The Competizione edition was designed for the bold and innovative futurist. It has a modern and futuristic styling, paired with subtle chrome details and matt body colors contrasting the glossy black roof.
The edition comes in three matt colors: Gotham Anthracite, London Green and Torino Aluminum, each complemented by a glossy black roof. The front and rear Infinity LED Light bars neatly fit into the design and give it a sporty look. It features two interior styles with premium materials in fabric and vegan leather for the seat, dashboard and steering wheel that match the modern exterior. The sunroof is standard and makes sure customers can enjoy a nice breeze and sunlight during the warmer times of the year. At no extra charge, customers can also opt for the Coupé roof.
TECHNICAL IMPROVEMENTS
The Microlino will be the first vehicle in its class with an automotive grade self-supporting unibody construction. This significantly improves rigidity, driving behavior and safety compared to the tubular structures of other vehicles in its class.
Other than that, the Microlino 2.0 has been improved on the following aspects compared to the Microlino 1.0:
- Peak power almost doubled from 12kW to 19kW
- Energy efficiency increased by 10%
- McPherson independent suspension front instead of push-rod suspension in Microlino 1.0
- McPherson independent suspension rear instead of rigid axle in Microlino 1.0
- Reengineered folding roof by MCTS
- Soft close function of the door
- Dual digital displays
START OF PRODUCTION
In August we have moved into our new production facility in Turin, Italy and plan to launch production towards the end of 2021. Prices will be announced soon and we are happy that despite the higher costs for raw materials and electronic components, the Microlino will remain an affordable vehicle.
We are currently working on the new Microlino 2.0 configurator which will be ready in a few weeks from now. We will let you know beforehand when the official date is set for the launch of the configurator.
